Austin, Why Are You So Bad Ass?

So Pearce was telling me the other day about this ACL Afterparty at this posh clothing/art/design store called Factory People. We both tried to get on the list by RSVP-ing to a specific email address but no dice. "Full capacity," was the phrase they used. But KC, Ben, and Drake had somehow scored some passes. So once they were there they called us and we came and met Drake around back. It felt like a drug deal. Since he'd already gotten a wrist band he gave us his pass which was good for two people. No list or anything, we show them the pass and they give us wristbands and let us in. Think New York, think strobe lights, think guys with funny haircuts and bad dance moves, think James Brown meets Gnarls Barkley, think open bar with Dos Equis and vodka tonics. And it was all free.

Alex and Bo are here for ACL and Bo had an extra ticket not being used so he offered it to me for dirt cheap. I opted for this instead of paying $19 to see TV On the Radio at Emo's on Sunday night. Today I am excited about The Secret Machines, The Shins, Aimee Mann, The Raconteurs, Iron & Wine, and Explosions in the Sky. Sufjan Stevens at The Paramount tonight!

And now I shall shower for lunch at Magnolia...
