ups & downs

down: having to separate two students after neither of them had started their warm up. 20. minutes. into. class.

up: a student telling me he thinks i'll make a good teacher.

down: sending a kid to the office for throwing his pencil into the ceiling.

up: kids' hilarious and random comments. let me set the scene...

we had some kids staying after school to work on some posters for a contest. i told them that if they could keep it cool, i'd put some music on for them. so i put on a hip-hop/r&b station and one of the boys started rapping along with jay-z...

me: "how did mr. henry know you'd like this music leon?"

leon: "either he's a mind-reading cyborg, or just good with young people."

that's about as funny as it gets.
