christmas eve

met up with some really good old friends at the old monk in dallas a few days ago. i'm glad they're all doing well. thanks to sean i have a new favorite beer: franciskanner. put a lemon slice in that joker...goodness.

this year and last year i've gone out with otr on their christmas tour and one (among the many) great things is that it gets me excited about christmas. them playing homemade christmas songs, the snow up north, the hats and scarves. things you don't see in texas too often.

a couple really good newish records i've been listening to lately:
the red thread - ship in the attic, birds in the subway
"spaghetti western, guitar-driven pop songs" - no depression

the magic numbers - self titled
"a clutch of frothy pop songs breeze past in a whirl of sixties soul and country rock" - the bbc

merry christmas!
"nothing evolves us like love..." - hafiz
