how much better off would i be without a cell phone and myspaces and cable television? probably lots. what if all you had for entertainment were books and music and the outdoors and all you had for communication was the united states postal service and a pocket full of change for the pay phone? in my mind i think that would be great, but here i am typing it on a web log. i've been trying to be outside a bit more at least, since it's cooling off. our dog, roxy and i have been hiking the cedar ridge nature preserve. it's one of the few wilderness areas left in dallas county and it's only about a five minute walk from my parent's. today we hiked the cattail pond trail and climbed the observation tower (well, i did; roxy was a fraidy cat). you can see all the way across 1382 to lake joe pool. there are actually some colors out. fall in texas? i guess so...
pearce let me burn his copy of explosions in the sky's volume of travels in constants, a series of recordings put out by temporary residence (very cool record label). explosions said it was sold out and they didn't mind if people shared it. nice guys. very cool how they recorded it... they set aside two weeks to write and record a song every day. these eight songs are the results.
we played our first show at trees last night. not that big of a crowd (it was pretty last minute) but at least some good friends showed up. playing ruston, louisiana in a few days with lots of friends. very excited about it.
do something to wake yourself up this week. don't let this old world get the best of you...get the best of it. breathe... are you listening ryan?

Hello...I came across your blog by searching for "i teach texas". I was hoping to come across someone that has done this alternate teaching certification program. I haven't had the chance to read all your blog entries, but I saw the post where you said you had joined the program. I was hoping maybe you could tell me about your experience with the program, if you completed it or not, if you are in fact teaching now, etc. Could you possibly reply or mail me at holly_lujah@yahoo.com? I searched for an email address for you on your blog but couldn't find one.
Thanks for your time. Have a nice day. :)
