in the past couple weeks i have watched two really intense movies involving high school kids. mean creek and elephant. both made me feel like i was back in high school for moments. both made me feel the tension in my chest. the thud of my heart. both films spoke to the carelessness of our youth and its consequences. both blurred the lines. both showcased the shame and pride in all of us. the capability for good and evil in everyone. you won't feel good after watching them. but i think that's okay...
