last night was otr's first of two shows at canal street tavern in dayton. dayton is weird. it feels like midland or odessa or something. after i set up the merch table i had about two hours to kill before doors opened so i walked around looking for food. i wanted to find this area we drove through before coming to canal street called "the oregon district." kind of a trendy, hip shops and restaurants, red-brick street. so i wandered around letting my lack of directional instinct lead me and finally i asked a guy walking down the street where i could purchase some good food. always ask the locals. he said i could follow him because he was heading near this place called "the trolley stop" and that it was good and reasonably priced. sure enough, he was going to the oregon district and he told me this restaurant was like the only place on the street that wasn't thirty bucks a plate. right on! the kindness of strangers.
so i had a chicken quesadilla and then went to a used bookstore. part of it was pretty gross cause they were selling old porno magazines like in comic book sleeves. if i was into porno magazines i sure don't think i'd buy them second-hand. *twitches and gags* anyway, enough of that... i ended up buying a used copy of night, by elie wiesel and the asian journal of thomas merton. little gems. i have got to stay away from used bookstores.
the show went well (sold out) and i moved lots of merch. we got back to norwood around 1 or 2am and i had some left over la rosa's pizza that was in the fridge from dinner. yum. today i got out of bed at about noon. round two tonight.

i'm thinking that if dayton had a used bookstore it already beats midland/odessa by a mile.
